THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will address the first batch of MBBS students of Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research Foundation, Venjaramoodu, on Sunday evening. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Minister for Health K.K. Ramachandran, Minister for Education E.T. Mohammed Basheer and Varkala Radhakrishnan, MP, will attend the ceremony where Mr. Kalam will inaugurate `Vision 2020: Telemedicine and Rural Health Care.' Following the inauguration, the President will interact with the students and will later visit the paediatric ward of the hospital. He will plant a sapling on the college premises, a press note issued here on Saturday said. He will also inaugurate a symposium at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in the city. The President will participate in as many as seven programmes in four places in the State. His first programme of the day will be the inauguration of the Karshaka Mela at Thodupuzha, Idukki. In Ernakulam, the President will inaugurate the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Kerala History Association at the Ernakulam Find Arts Hall. Around noon, Mr. Kalam will plant a Bodhi sapling on the DB College premises. He will also visit the International Centre for Cardiothoracic and Vascular Diseases Unit. He will reach Kollam in the afternoon where he will hand over the completion certificate of the houses built for tsunami victims by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math to the District Collector at a function to be held at the Math. He will return to New Delhi on Sunday night.
