Free coaching

session

TIRUCHI: Free coaching session will be held under the auspices of the Study Circle of the District Employment Exchange for the benefit of candidates preparing for the written test for recruitment of constables for Fire Service and Rescue Department, to be conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board.

In a press release issued here today, the Collector, K. Nanda Kishore, said the written test would be held on December 24 and the coaching session would be held at the YWCA Hall on December 19. Interested candidates should bring a copy of the hall ticket for the test.

Dhotis, saris

distributed

A total of 2,26,373 saris and an equal number of dhotis have been distributed to the families affected by the floods and rains in Tiruchi district till Saturday.

In a press release issued here today, the Collector, K. Nanda Kishore, said each family had been disbursed a cash relief of Rs.1,000.

Prohibitory order

The City Police Commissioner, Prateep V. Philip has issued an order under Sec. 41 (2) of the Chennai City Police Act 1997, prohibiting assemblies, meetings, processions, agitations and demonstrations etc in the city limits.

It will be in force till December 30.

`Check misuse of

LPG cylinders'

The Tiruchi District Consumers' Council has threatened to launch serious agitations if the Central Government increased the price of the LPG cylinders.

A resolution adopted at a meeting of the Council held here recently, any further increase would badly hit the middle class.

The government should also take steps to check the misuse of the LPG cylinders, it added.

Mettur level

The water level at the Mettur dam stood at 120.20 feet today. The inflow was 8,648 cusecs and the outflow, 8095 cusecs. — Staff Reporter
