KANCHEEPURAM : Enlisting of all sub-sects in Naidu community under most backward class and declaring holiday for `Ugadi' in Tamil Nadu are some of the demands of the Federation of All Naidu Associations. The resolutions pressing for the demands are to be passed at the District-level `Resurgence Conference' on December 25. Disclosing this to reporters here on Sunday, secretary of North Arcot District All Naidu Associations L. Sadagoparamanujan said the aim of the conference to be organised here by the Federation in Kancheepuram district, was to usher in a sense of unity among different sects of the community and press the demand for inclusion of Naidu community in MBC list. The reasons given for enlisting a few sub-sects of the community under `other caste' and a few others under MBC, by the Minorities Commission was not tenable as most of the community people were economically backward, he said. The Managing Director, S.M. Silks, S. Manoharan Naidu, said the conference was organised not only to consolidate the community base but also help the community people on matrimonial front. A free registration and exchange of horoscopes of brides and bridegrooms would be encouraged at the conference venue, he said.
