IAF plane crashes
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Both the pilots of an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft died after it crashed while preparing to land at the Agra airfield on Monday afternoon.
The vintage Canberra reconnaissance aircraft, about 40 years old, burst into flames about 5 km from the runway, killing Squadron Leaders S. Beri and A. Sharma.
The planes, first inducted in the IAF in the mid-50s as bombers, were part of the Agra-based 106 Squadron and meant for reconnaissance duty. An official spokesperson said a court of inquiry had been ordered.
