Police stations to go online in East Godavari district

Training on handling computers given to 100 constables


  • Manual working also would be continued simultaneously for some time to come
  • SP calls for action against those organising cockfights

    Kakinada: All the police stations including the circle offices and sub-divisional police offices in the district will be going online within a couple of months, said Vemuganti Naveen Chand, East Godavari Superintendent of Police here on Monday.

    Addressing a press conference, he said that the systems and the software required for networking had already received and the installation is yet to be commenced. Meanwhile, 100 police constables have been already given the necessary training on handling the computer and its applications.

    Fifty more constables are being deputed for the computer training shortly. The officers were also given the training in computer basics so that the online functioning could be effectively implemented.

    All the crime records, he said, would be computerised but the manual working also would be continued simultaneously for some time to come.

    He said each police station along with the computers had to maintain 22 records as such manual maintenance of records is inevitable for the time being.

    Earlier, addressing the officers of all ranks including sub-inspectors, circle-inspectors and sub- divisional police officers at the customary half-yearly meeting, the SP has instructed them to take a serious view of the cockfights and deal firmly against those involved in organising them.

    He warned them of stern action for non-compliance He asked them to take necessary steps to expedite the investigation and charge sheeting in view of the large number of cases pending in the courts. Collector Anil Kumar Singhal, who was the chief guest, while appreciating the role of the police in dealing with various law and order situations in the recent past including the elections, however, suggested better coordination among various departments at mandal level.

    Mr. Singhal has advised them to constitute mandal-level coordination committees giving due representation to all the key departments with a view to ensure better liaison among them on various problems.

    Additional SP Anjuri Radha, officer on special duty V. Satyanarayana also attended.
