BANGALORE: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, Chief Minister Dharam Singh, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan, Union Ministers and State Ministers have expressed deep shock and sorrow over the demise of Union Minister for Power P.M. Sayeed in Seoul on Sunday. Mr. Chaturvedi said he had known Sayeed for several years as a Member of Parliament, the Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and served with him as a member on two Parliamentary Committees. Sayeed created a record by being elected to the Lower House consecutively representing Lakshadweep Islands from 4th to 12th Lok Sabha for nine terms. Mr. Chaturvedi said because of his association with Karnataka, the people and the State had a special place in his heart. Mr. Dharam Singh in a condolence message said Sayeed was elected to the Lok Sabha for the 10th time and this showed his popularity among his voters. In his death, the State and the Congress have suffered a great loss, the Chief Minister said. Mr. Rahman Khan said that the passing away of Sayeed is a great loss to Parliament and the countryUnion Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways K.H. Muniyappa said Sayeed was one of the senior Congress leader and known for dedication, loyality and good administration. Maharashtra Governor S.M. Krishna has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sad demise of Sayeed. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge said Sayeed added charm and grade to the parliamentary proceedings.
