Chief Minister giving utmost priority to BCs' welfare: Chittaranjan Das

Mahabubnagar: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee OBC Cell Chairperson-designate J. Chittaranjan Das on Sunday hoped that the backward class communities would get their due share in the Legislative Council that would be revived soon.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Das said as Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was giving utmost priority to BCs and their welfare, he would also do justice to the BC communities while nominating the candidates to council from their party. He said the OBC Cell would take the problems being faced by BCs to the notice of Government for their redressal.

Mr. Das said that he would take charge as Chairperson on December 22 at Gandhi Bhavan at a meeting to be attended by Dr. Reddy, the PCC chief, Ministers, MLAs and other party leaders.

Deletion from list

To another question, Mr. Das said that there should not be any concern over the reported deletion of some castes from the list of Backward Classes. He said that Dr. Reddy had already made it clear by announcing that no caste would be deleted from the BC list. He further said that his cell would educate BCs about the various schemes taken up by Government for their uplift.

AICC member S. Jagadeeshwar Reddy, DCC president S. Prakash, municipal chairperson Obedullah Kotwal, District Libraries Committee chairperson, Sattor Ramulu Goud, DCC secretaries T. Srinivas Chary and Sattor Chandra Kumar Goud, media cell in charge C. J. Benhur and other party leaders were present.
