Shops burgled at Poojappura

Thiruvananthapuram: Burglary was reported from two shops near the Poojappura post office in the early hours of Monday. The shops were identified as that of Shahul Hameed and Hamsat. The police said the wooden panels of the shops were found removed.

The owners have reported a total loss of more than Rs.20,000, including cash and provisions.

The Poojappura police have registered a case and an investigation was under way.

Residents' march

Nearly 500 residents of Vanchiyoor-Palkulangara area staged a demonstration in front of the Pettah Police Circle office demanding an end to the "spate" of burglaries in the area. Palkulangara ward councillor Vanchiyoor Mohanan and Palkulangara Powra Avakasha Samrakshana Samithi member Asokan led the march.
