Letters to the Editor
This refers to the news report, `Another operation exposes 7 MPs' (Dec. 20). Close on the heels of `Operation Duryodhana,' `Operation Chakravyuh' highlights the corruption in selecting projects for the MPLAD Scheme. This has further damaged our country's image. In this particular episode, however, the MPLAD Scheme, for which an MP gets a grant of Rs.2 crore annually for the development of his or her constituency, is to blame. Ever since its inceptions, there have been allegations of misuse of the funds granted under it. Time for a revamp.
S. Bakthavathsalan,
* * * Even before the dust has settled on the Aaj Tak-cobrapost.com sting operation comes another, highlighting the corrupt practices of some of our MPs. Such behaviour by elected representatives is condemnable.
Usha Devi and S.B. Rao,
* * * Each passing day brings with it some news of corrupt MPs. What more shame do some of our MPs want to inflict upon the country? All we want is a government that is alive to the needs of its citizens. Is that asking for too much?
Anshul Dhamija,
* * * If the allegations made in the latest exposé are found to be true, the MPs concerned should be severely punished. And the Government should come out with corruption-free welfare schemes in future.
S. Baqr Ali,
* * *
Aaj Tak-cobrapost.com first and Star News-DIG now have done a commendable job revealing the real face of some of our elected representatives.
Ramesh K.S.,
