A loss

The sudden demise of P.M. Sayeed, a veteran parliamentarian, who had a vital role in the development of the Lakshadweep group of islands is shocking. It is a great loss to the people of Lakshadweep as well as for Parliament.

In the passing away of Sayeed we have lost one of our best parliamentarians. One cannot forget his relentless striving for the deprived sections of society.

The Union Cabinet's decision to observe nationwide mourning on Thursday as a mark of respect to the departed soul is laudable.
