Stars chip in for SOS children

NEW DELHI: Screen personalities Mahima Chaudhary and Mandira Bedi came together this past week to launch the "Add a Rupee Programme'' in support of SOS Children's Villages at the recently opened Pacific Mall on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border.

The mall, which boasts of the biggest shopping space, biggest food court, biggest hypermarket and the biggest film screen, Imax, in the entire National Capital Region, has devised a new way of contributing towards charity all through its Big Celebration which would run up to the New Year.

Under the programme, Pacific Mall would contribute Rs. 2 to the SOS Children's Villages of India on each bill invoiced in its food court and car parking.

And to show its seriousness to the cause, the Director of Pacific Mall, Abhishek Bansal, has handed over a cheque for Rs. 7.20 lakhs to SOS India for helping the less fortunate children as the money will go towards funding of education of 60 children in the SOS Children's Village in Faridabad for one year.

At the 5 lakh square feet mall, along with Mahima and Mandira, the visitors also got a chance to come close to and watch models Upen Patel, Indrani Das Gupta, Shonali Nagarani, Tina Chatwal, Sonalika Sahay and Amanpreet Wahi as they walked the ramp and presented the latest collection of the big fashion brands located in the mall. Then there was a unique presentation by children, who also walked the ramp and won many hearts by their truly professional approach to the job.

Performances by contemporary and rope dancers were also thrown in to enthral the gathering and the programme which was conceptualised, produced and choreographed by Meenu and Meetu of Roots Event Management won accolades from all over.
