Cash-for-query report today

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Pawan Bansal Committee of the Lok Sabha, set up to look into the cash-for-questions scandal, is to submit its final report to the Speaker on Wednesday. It will then be up to the Speaker and the House to decide what to do with its recommendations.

Talking informally to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr. Bansal said: "The Committee will meet tomorrow morning to finalise its recommendations." Although some MPs, especially from the Bharatiya Janata Party, were wondering whether the Committee or even the Speaker and House could expel a Lok Sabha member, Mr. Bansal was of the view that the House was supreme and could hand out whatever punishment it thought fit.
