Madurai: It is the prayer song that breaks the ice in any inaugural function. Generally, such songs are rendered by an individual or a group of persons for a few minutes. But at the inauguration of International Gandhian Institute for Non-violence and Peace on Tuesday, the song took over 20 minutes, where people from different cultural and linguistic background gelled well and sung with such vigour that it spurred the audience to join them. The true national spirit of the function came to the fore with representatives from Orissa, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh synchronising well to present a song, which came as an awakening for the audience.
Prayer song in different languages
Moreover, participants sung prayer songs in different languages. It quite reflected the nature of the function, which was also meant to inaugurate an international theatre workshop where NGO activists from various States are participating. The event was organised by the Centre for Experiencing Socio-Cultural Interaction.
