KOZHIKODE: The National Development Front (NDF) is planning to step up campaign to press for special recruitment for backward and minorities to make for the shortfall in reservation for these communities in Government service. It also accused the Congress, Indian Union Muslim League and the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front of trying to duck their responsibility in the issue. A campaign-procession will be flagged off from Manjeswaram on February 2 in this connection. This was decided by the NDF "supreme council" at its recent meeting, which was announced on Tuesday. This is the second such campaign by the NDF. NDF general secretary Nasaruddin Elamaran said on Tuesday the agitation for special recruitment in Government service was being stepped up as the UDF government had been dillydallying on the question of granting full reservation benefits to minorities and backward communities.
