KOLLAM: The Kollam unit of the Kerala Veterinary Association has voiced its protest against last week's development in which a senior veterinary surgeon, B. Bhaskara Pillai, was called to the Kadakkal grama panchayat office and harassed by a section of the panchayat members. In a statement here on Sunday, secretary of the association B. Aravind said that the panchayat members attempted to assault Dr. Bhaskara Pillai. The issue pertains to altering a project. Dr. Bhaskara Pillai was forced to sign an altered document of the project. When he refused to sign it, he was pushed down and was injured in the process. Dr. Bhaskara Pillai, who has been hospitalised, has lodged a complaint with the police. Dr. Aravind said that alterations could be made only with the approval of the District Planning Committee. But the panchayat members wanted him to clear the alteration without the approval. The association urged the Government to initiate action against the panchayat members who manhandled Dr. Bhaskara Pillai .
