Kandir, Reshma triumph

KOLKATA: Jharkhand's Prabhat Kandir and Bengal's Reshma Banerjee emerged the individual Olympic champions in the recurve section of the 28th junior National archery championship that concluded at Jamshedpur on Tuesday. Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand took the team honours.

According to information reaching here, Kandir outshot Nayan Mani Nath of Assam 110 to 107 for the gold. Jyoti Kant of UP finished third.

Reshma (106) beat Runu Swargiary of Jharkhand (98) for the gold while Punya Prabha of U.P. finished third in the girls' section.

The results (finals): Individual: Boys: recurve: Prabhat Kandir (Jhar) 110 bt Nayan Mani Nath (Asm) 107. Compound: Santosh Tamang (SSCB) 107 bt Avishek Verma (Del) 101.

Girls: recurve: Reshma Banerjee (Ben) 106 bt Runu Swargiary (Jhar) 98. Compound: Sumanlata Murmu (Jhar) 110 bt Sweety Kumari (Jhar) 104.

Team championship: Recurve: boys: UP 241 bt Jharkhand 227. Girls: Jharkhand 228 bt UP 214.

Compound: boys: Jharkhand 243 bt Delhi 222. — Special Correspondent
