`Firms must be aware of social responsibility'

Bangalore:
S.M. Dewan, Director-General, Standing Committee on Public Enterprises (SCOPE), has stressed the need to sensitise companies in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and extend a helping hand to society.
He was speaking at a one-day interactive programme on "Corporate social responsibility and global compact to improve competitiveness of enterprises" organised by SCOPE and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) here on Tuesday.
Rajen Mehrotra, Senior Specialist (Employers' Activities), ILO, defined the concept of global compact.
He said the three dimensions to CSR initiatives are profit, people and planet.
