16 directors elected unopposed to CAMPCO Board; official announcement on Saturday

  • Eight each from Karnataka and Kerala

  • Tuesday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations
  • Of 35 nominations filed, 19 were withdrawn

    MANGALORE: Sixteen members of Sahakara Bharati, which claims to be a non-political cooperative organisation, are all set to be elected to the Board of Directors of Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd. (CAMPCO). They will have a five-year term.

    The elections are scheduled for Saturday. Tuesday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations.

    In the 17-member Board of Directors, the Managing Director of CAMPCO is an ex-officio director. The remaining 16 are elected directors.

    On the last day for withdrawal of nominations, 16 Sahakara Bharati members remained in the fray. Therefore, they will be elected unopposed. An official announcement will be made only on Saturday.

    Candidates

    The candidates who are set to be elected are CAMPCO President L.N. Kudoor, D.B. Balakrishna, S.R. Rangamurthy, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Seetharama Bhat, Mahabala Bhat K.M., Kishore Kodgi and Thimmappa Rai (all from Karnataka), Karunakara Nambiyar, Shri Hari Bhat, Srikrishna Bhat, Ashok Holla, K.A. Shetty, K.M.N. Kartha, Hariharan Unni and Rajgopal (all from Kerala).

    Eight of them are new faces. They are Mr. Balakrishna, Mr. Mahabala Bhat, Mr. Kodgi, Mr. Rai, Mr. Shetty, Mr. Unni and Mr. Rajgopal.

    Sahakara Bharati sources said that of the 35 valid nominations filed for the elections, 19 were withdrawn on Tuesday, leaving 16 in the fray.
