LDF will probe sex racket case: RSP leader

Special Correspondent

Party to take out vehicle jatha

  • Says UDF Government lacks political morality and credibility
  • Alleges that UDF rule characterised by corruption and ineptness
  • Says Government turning blind eye to serious issues

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: RSP State Secretary T. J. Chandrachoodan said here on Tuesday an effective investigation into the ice-cream parlour sex racket case would take place if the Left Democratic Front (LDF) comes to power.

Admitting that proper investigation of the case had not taken place even during the previous LDF rule, the RSP leader said that the front had campaigned for proper investigation in recent years. "So, it would pursue the matter when in power also," he said.

Mr. Chandrachoodan said that the case showed that the present Government lacked political morality and credibility. The public prosecutor had been acting as if he was the counsel for the accused before he had been replaced on a directive from the High Court. The question of approaching the court for proper investigation and trial of the case would be considered.

He said that if the first phase of the UDF rule had been characterised by corruption and ineptness, the second phase was worse.

The RSP would be taking out a vehicle jatha across the State from December 26 to January 12 to highlight this. He would be leading the march from Kasaragod.

The Government, Mr. Chandrachoodan said, had not only undermined sex cases but also facilitated the growth of mafia gangs. It was trying to hoodwink the public by issuing the Felonious Activities (Prevention) Ordinance. The Government, he added, was also turning a blind eye to the need for establishing a CBI unit in Thiruvananthapuram.

He said that proposals such as the formation of `Air Kerala' were intended to hoodwink the Gulf Malayalis.
