HYDERABAD: The BSNL has announced a new scheme of providing free `DataOne' broadband connection for landline subscribers with Internet dialup connection for two months.

After utilising free broadband connection for two months, the customer could opt to continue the connection on payment basis, J. Ramachandra Rao, Chief General Manager, Andhra Pradesh Telecom, said in a press release here on Tuesday.

He said that the customer could avail of the benefit under plan Rs.250 with free download up to 400 Mb.

Monthly rentals, installation and registration charges would not be levied.

The customer would have the option of either purchasing the modem or pay rent with appropriate security deposit, which would be refunded after the use of two months if he decided to discontinue with broadband.

There are four different types of modems and the provisional rent for each of them is Rs.100 per month.

They range from those for use with single desktop to those for use with both wi-fi laptop and desktop and those for multiple computers, on bandwidth share basis.
