OFF THE FIELD: The former captain, Sourav Ganguly, with Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar at his residence in New Delhi on Tuesday.
NEW DELHI : Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly flew down here on Tuesday to meet BCCI president Sharad Pawar to present his case in the wake of the recent developments concerning his ouster from the team. According to Board's media spokesman Rajiv Shukla, the meeting had nothing to do with Ganguly's recent spat with coach Greg Chappell or his position in the team. "They did not discuss the selection issue. The selection matters are left to the selectors. They discussed the general health of Indian cricket." Ganguly, however, reportedly used the opportunity to present his case, his relationship with the players and the "injustice" meted out to him in recent times, hoping to find a place in the team to Pakistan. PTI reports: Mr. Pawar, who had expressed shock and hurt at Ganguly's exclusion, had on Monday said that he would talk to the latter about the issue but would not tell the selectors that he should be included in the team. Flying in from Kolkata, Ganguly drove straight to Pawar's Janpath residence but both refused to talk to the media about their discussion.
