Order on Salem's "jail party"
|
Court asks Salem, State to file affidavits in response to news reports
|
Mumbai:
A designated TADA court on Tuesday asked the Maharashtra Government and Abu Salem to file their affidavits in response to news reports alleging that the extradited underworld don threw a lavish party in prison on November 24, when he was sent to judicial custody.
The order was delivered by designated judge P. D. Kode on a complaint filed by the Superintendent of the Mumbai Central Prison on Arthur Road alleging that the reports were totally baseless and false.
The judge, hearing the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, asked Salem's lawyer if the allegations were true. However, Salem's lawyer Harjot Singh denied knowledge of any such party. PTI
