ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and India are expected to formalise on Wednesday an agreement for operationalisation of the Lahore-Amritsar bus service as officials of both sides commenced talks in Lahore on Tuesday on technical aspects of the service and additional bus connecting Nankana Sahib and Amritsar. The Additional Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Muhammad Abbas is representing Pakistan while the Additional Secretary, Road Transport Authority, Saroj Kumar Dash, is leading a seven-member Indian delegation at the two-day talks to discuss various issues related to the two bus services. The Lahore-Amritsar service would be the third bus service to be launched between the two countries as part of their peace process. The existing bus services include Delhi-Lahore and Muzaffarabad-Srinagar. Talking to the media in Lahore leaders of both the delegations said they would focus on issues such as technical matters, timeframe and number of passengers before the signing ceremony on Wednesday.
