Bangladeshis held

NEW DELHI: Five alleged illegal Bangladeshi migrants have been arrested by the East Delhi police for allegedly being in possession of country-made revolvers and knives.

According to the police, the accused -- Kamrool, Shamim Sheikh, Kamaal, Tazmul and Allauddin -- were arrested near SFS Flats, Mayur Vihar-III, on Monday. The police recovered a country-made revolver, two knives, two live cartridges and an iron rod from their possession. They had apparently planned to commit a dacoity at a petrol pump.

The police said the accused, active in East and North-West Delhi, would chose their targets which were located in isolated places.

While Kamrool was involved in eight cases, Shamim was involved in four.

Alleged suicide

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in his house at Mongolpuri in North-West Delhi on Tuesday.

According to the police, Jugal, a resident of Mongolpuri, was found hanging around 1 a.m. He left behind a suicide note in which he purportedly wrote that nobody should be held responsible for his death and that he was fed up of his life.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Jugal, who worked in a sofa repair shop, was married about a year ago.

Woman held in drug trafficking case

NEW DELHI: A 36-year-old woman was arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the Crime Branch at Kashmere Gate in North Delhi on Monday on charges of drug trafficking. The police allegedly recovered 310 gm of heroin from her possession.

The Narcotics Branch received a tip-off that Mobina, who had earlier been arrested with her husband on charges of selling heroin, would come to Kashmere Gate to receive a heroin consignment on Monday. Subsequently, a trap was laid and she was arrested. During interrogation, Mobina allegedly revealed that was earlier convicted under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Rajasthan.

Lifer for two

New Delhi: A squabble over a half-used tube of toothpaste and a bar of bathing soap, which ended in the murder of a man, cost two men a lifetime behind bars.

Additional Sessions Judge S.C. Rajan handed down the prison terms and slapped a fine of Rs 2000 each on accused Ravinder Kumar and Raju after finding them guilty under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

Both the accused were workers in a factory in Ranjeet Nagar in West Delhi. They also stayed on the factory premises along with their co-worker Shashank Gupta and supervisor Narendra Kumar, the victim.
