Letters to the Editor
Omar Abdullah's call to New Delhi and Islamabad, after being re-elected National Conference president, to "take away their guns from the soil of Kashmir" is welcome (Dec. 20). This is what every Indian in general and Kashmiri in particular desires. A negotiated settlement has to be reached at the earliest to end the longstanding dispute. However, statements like Mr. Abdullah's call not to treat Kashmir as an internal problem of India are often responsible for keeping the pot of problems boiling.
