Thorough mass entertainer

TOUCH OF GLAMOUR: Chiranjeevi with Sameera Reddy and Bhoomika

Jai Chiranjeeva (Telugu)

Cast: Chiranjeevi, Sameera Reddy, Bhoomika, Jayaprakash Reddy, Rahuldev and others

Music: Manisharma

Direction: Vijayabhaskar K

The much-awaited Chiranjeevi-starrer opened to a mixed response. As expected, dance choreography and fight compositions will suit the taste of Megastar's fans and frontbenchers. Director Vijayabhaskar and story/dialogue writer Trivikram gave their best in the first half of the film but lost grip in the second half.

Sameera Reddy's glamour is a plus point. Bhoomika's appearance is okay and her lone song with Chiru is nice to watch.

Chiru's forte

Chiranjeevi's performance once again proved that he could keep the audiences, especially the masses, in firm grip with inimitable dance movements and excellent comedy.

The film is about the hero hunting for the villain who killed his niece in cold blood just to experiment how a sophisticated gun could shoot a moving target.

Satyanarayana Murthy aka Satyam (Chiranjeevi) loves his niece Lavanya very much. Though her parents want to join her in a convent, Satyam opposes the move as he will then be missing her. Only to please his sister and brother-in-law, he accepts their proposal.

Tragic twist

While the kid is playing in a park, an international arms smuggler Pashupati kills her. However, Satyam thinks that she died accidentally as she fell from a swing. On realising that it is not an accident, he launches a manhunt and reaches Hyderabad, where he happens to meet Sailaja (Sameera Reddy) and falls in love with her.

On learning from the local mafia don Ramakoti (Jayaprakash Reddy) that the killer stays in the U.S., Satyam plans to go there.

In this endeavour, he wants to take the help of Neelima (Bhoomika) who has a green card. Incidentally, Neelima's father (Vizag Prasad) also died because of Pashupati.

The remaining part of the film features how Satyam goes to U.S; will he marry Neelima to reach US?; what happens to his love with Sailaja and will he be able to take revenge?

Chiranjeevi showed excellent histrionics in all scenes, whether sentimental, emotional, action or dance sequences. Sameera Reddy looks glamorous. Bhoomika did a neat job. Her portrayal in the climax is quite good.

Manisharma's tunes, though not very impressive to listen, were choreographed well. Trivikram maintained good humour in some scenes in the first half. Cinematography by Venu is good. The film was released on Wednesday.
