Nellore: An inter-State dacoit gang was busted with the arrest of five members at Kota crossroads here on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy said that the gang was allegedly involved in four murders, robbery in a petrol bunk, three burglaries and attempt to murder a lorry driver. In addition, cases were pending in Guntur district and in Karnataka. The accused persons, who hailed from Nagpur area of Maharashtra, used to identify their targets in the guise of selling plastic products in the mornings and commit the crime during night. The names of arrested persons were given as B. Maschindra, 28, B. Rajagopal, 24, B. Rajahmundry, 19, B. Akraja, 21, and B. Kalva, 18. Six other members of the gang were said to be absconding. The police recovered some knives, a cell phone, a watch, a gold ring and Rs. 6,500 in cash from them. The accused persons, who were produced at the press conference, said that they were only involved in minor offences and not major ones.
