Nellore: There was high drama at Putta Veedi in Balaji Nagar of the town on Tuesday night when locals gave chase to some persons, who were allegedly procuring sex workers. Residents had noticed frequent movement of vehicles and well-dressed women who would hurry into a house. Tough the activity had been going on for a while, it did not come to light as the alleged promoters were shifting the women from one place to another, in the same area to avoid suspicion. On Tuesday, however, the locals caught some women and men red-handed. When questioned they ran away, but one of the alleged sex worker was caught when she fell while scaling a wall.Later two others, including a old woman, their cook were also nabbed. On persistent questioning one of them reportedly spilt the name of a minor official of the VIth town police station. However, when the police were informed about the incident, the residents were reportedly asked to keep the persons nabbed with them till morning. Protesting locals then informed higher officials who gave orders to take action. Enquiries revealed that the alleged kingpins escaped, leaving behind their cell phones after removing Simcard.
