Dharna by BSNL employees

Pondicherry: Employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) staged a dharna here on Wednesday protesting against the "ill-conceived policies of BSNL and the Central Government resulting in weakening of the telecom sector in the country."

The agitators said the Government should withdraw the foreign direct investment of 74 per cent in the telecom sector in view of its serious implications.

BSNL should be included in the `navaratna' category of undertakings and privatisation plans should be abandoned, they said. — Special Correspondent
