JAIPUR: A group of persons led by a local Municipal Councillor who made a forced entry into a church in the district town of Ajmer in Rajasthan in the early hours of Monday attacked the congregation inside injuring about half a dozen. The group, wielding lathis and hockey sticks, damaged church property and locked the believers inside the church before the police flying squad arrived on the spot for their rescue. The attack on the Carmel church of the Full Gospel Church of God, a Pentecostal denomination, on the Ajmer-Srinagar road reportedly was the outcome of differences between the followers of the church and a few persons in the area. A Congress member of the Ajmer Municipal Council, Naresh Satyavana, allegedly led the mob of attackers.
