Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee submits 15-point memorandum to Chief Minister

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee leaders on Wednesday met Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to submit a 15-point memorandum, which among other things demanded immediate commencement of drought relief operations in the State and eight hours power supply to farmers. The delegation, led by PCC (I) president B.D.Kalla, protested against the said move to convert the diary cooperative in the State to milk production companies after entering into a loan agreement with the National Diary Development Board(NDDB).

The Congress leaders, who sat with Ms.Raje for an hour at her office in the State Secretariat here, expressed concern over the delay in starting drought relief in 15,468 villages declared scarcity-hit. They demanded opening of cattle camps and arrangements for supply of drinking water in the affected villages. The delegation included former Deputy Chief Minister Kamla, PCC vice president Hari Singh and general secretaries Mumtaz Masih and Suraj Khatri.

The Congress leaders conveyed their resentment over the decision to rename building complexes named after the late Rajiv Gandhi and Mother Teresa. The re-naming was politically motivated, they charged. Mr.Kalla accused the State Government of indulging in wasteful expenditure of public money. "The growth rate in Rajasthan has come down to four per cent from the previous eight per cent during the past two years of the BJP Government," he said.

PCC spokesman Sampat Singh Dhamora said the memorandum opposed the move to allocate community wastelands to private companies. The topics that figured in the memorandum included the issue of acquisition of farmers land for setting up special economic zone, IT Park, knowledge corridor and for the expansion of the Sanganer airport.
