It features 21 top artists with focus on Tyagaraja kritis

CHENNAI:
Tiruvaiyaru was brought alive in Chennai with the inauguration of `Chennaiyil Tiruvaiyaru,' the cultural festival at Kamarajar Arangam on Wednesday.
An array of eminent singers and musicians brought out their best while rendering saint-composer Tyagaraja's `pancharatna kritis' for an hour.
Veteran vocalist P.S. Narayanaswamy led the group consisting of flautists N. Ramani, R. Thiyagarajan and G. Sridhar, mridangam players Raja Yuvaraj Suresh, Ganapathy Raman, Mohan Rao and Melakaveri Balaji, veena players Revathi Krishna and Rajesh Vaidhya and violin artists A. Kanyakumari and Kalpana.
Vocalists included Prema Rangarajan, Gayathri Venkatraghavan, Leelavathy Gopalakrishnan, Priya Sri Shankar, Revathy Sridharan, Latha Unnikrishan, Malathy, Sharadha Vijayaraman, Vasantha Rammohan, Vaidhyanathan, Sikkil Gurushekaran, G. Srikanth and Sasikiran. The festival, with the focus on Tyagaraja kritis, is on till December 25 from 9 a.m. and features 21 top artists.
It is organised by Raj TV, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Hotel Accord, Worldspace, Kalalaya, Nataka Academy and Lakshman Sruthi Musicals.
