KOCHI: Vice-Chancellor of Cochin University of Science and Technology P.K. Abdul Azis has said that the interest for learning science subjects has come down despite the rapid developments made in the field of science and technology. He was delivering the inaugural address at the lecture series organised by International School of Photonics in connection with the World Year of Physics programmes held on the campus on Thursday. Dr.Azis said that attempts should be made to identify young talents in science. He said that such a move would help in bringing in young talents in the area of research in science and technology. Scholarships should also be provided to attract young talents in to the field of science and technology, he said. Dr.V. Parameswaran Nair from State University of New York spoke on `Dreams of unified field theories' on the occasion. Dr.Virendra Mahajan from Aerospace Corporation, California, delivered a lecture on "recent trends in optics".
