With Christmas and New Year round the corner, people are rushing to buy cakes. Cakes in the bakeries in Kozhikode are priced at Rs.80 to Rs.200. It can even go up to Rs.300 a kg. The hot favourite this time is plum cake with icing. There is a range of cakes, including plum cakes (with and without icing), tea cakes, chocolate cakes, strawberry cakes, pineapple cakes, cashew cakes. Bakeries too have come up with their own special cakes for the festive season. A bakery has come up with a Christmas cake, which is 6.5 ft. long, 4.5 ft. wide, weighing 78 kg, depicting the birth of Jesus Christ and other such details.
