NCC contingent to leave for R-Day parade on Monday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The National Cadet Corps (NCC) contingent of the Kerala & Lakshwadweep NCC Directorate for the Republic Day parade, will leave for New Delhi from here on Monday.

The 118-member contingent, including 104 cadets (including 35 girls) drawn from 45 units under all the five NCC Group Commands in the State, will be flagged off by Brigadier O.A. James, Deputy Director General, NCC (Kerala & Lakshadweep Region), at a function to be held in the Central Railway Station.

Apart from the R-Day Parade, the cadets will participate in various competitions such as drill, guard of honour, aero-modelling and ship-modelling. They will also take part in blood donation and national integration awareness camps during their stay in Delhi till January 31.

The cadets would be exposed to a number of VVIPs like the President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister, the Chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and the Delhi Chief Minister. They would also get a chance to interact with cadets from 17 friendly nations as part of the youth exchange programme.
