SALEM: The civil supply officials found irregularities in the distribution of kerosene in a fair price shop here on Wednesday. The officials also recommended disciplinary action against the employees in the shop. Following widespread complaints that cardholders were being supplied less volume of kerosene, a team of officials raided three fair price shops in Mittapudur, Azhagapuram and Dharma Nagar. When the officials verified the kerosene distributed to a woman in the Mittapudur ration shop, they noticed 1.5 litres of short supply as against the original allotment of 10 litres. Further, while enquiring the people waiting in the queue, the officials discovered that a few persons had received kerosene from the ration shop illegally. The officials also found a can with 20 litres of kerosene meant for distribution through the Public Distribution System (PDS). The district administration asked the officials to submit a detail report in this regard. Officials warned that severe action would be initiated against the persons who were engaged in selling PDS kerosene in the black market and the ration officials conniving with such sellers.
