COLOMBO: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake has been elected president of the India-Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Association (ISPFA). Along with the India-Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Group, launched in New Delhi on Thursday, "legislators from both countries would now be able to have sustained and mutually beneficial interaction," an Indian High Commission release said. Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament W.J.M. Lokubandara presided over the launch of the forum on Thursday. The former Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, was elected a vice-president.
