SHIMOGA: Preparations are under way to accord a rousing reception to the "Bharatiya Goyatra being taken up in Karnataka and Kerala under the leadership of Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of the Sri Ramachandrapur Mutt to create awareness among the people to protect and promote local cow breeds when it arrives here on January 5. Giving details about the programme to be held here in connection with the arrival of the yatra, the chief coordinator of the reception committee, S.K. Seshachala, told presspersons here on Thursday that a rousing reception will be accorded to the yatre when it arrives at 3 p.m. on that day at the "Goshala" on the bank of the Tunga by the municipal president, councillors, women and other prominent citizens. He said a Shobha Yatra will be taken out from Ramanna Shetty Park to the Adi Chunchanagiri School ground after passing through Gandhi Bazaar, Nehru Road, Durgi Gudi and Kuvempu Road. Folk troupes such as dollu kunita, nandi kolu, and tableaux and decorated bullock carts will be part of the procession. He said a public meeting will be addressed by heads of religious institutions such as Sri Raghaveshwar Bharathi of the Sri Ramachandrapur Mutt, Sri Mallikarjun Murugharajendra Mutt of Bekkinakalmutt, Sri Prasannanath Swamiji of the Shimoga branch of the Adi Chunchanagiri Mutt and Sri Vinayanandaji of the Sri Ramakrishna Ashram.
