Kannan's charge

Pondicherry: Puduchery Munnetra Congress founder and former Home Minister P. Kannan on Thursday alleged that the Congress Government headed by N. Rangasamy here was using the relief fund scheme for political purposes.

Mr. Kannan said the road roko staged by volunteers on Thursday in Pondicherry and Karaikal was peaceful. They were urging payment of Rs. 2,000 to every family affected by the floods, Rs. 5,000 for an acre of crop lost and waiver of loans and interest for affected farmers and fishermen. - Special Correspondent
