Toddler falls to death

Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: Alleged negligence on the part of the municipal corporation authorities in removing the mud after clearing the drains resulted in the death of a one and a-half-year-old boy in Guntur city on Wednesday.

According to the boy's father Mastan Vali, Roshan slipped and fell into the water, which accumulated behind the mound of mud. Immediately, he jumped into the water and brought him out. Later, he rushed him to the hospital but it was in vain, as the boy died.

Municipal Commissioner D.Rama Rao visited the spot and ordered the clearing of the mud. Activists of the All India Democratic Woman's Association (AIDWA) demanded that the authorities declare Rs. 2 lakhs as compensation to Mastan's family, which was economically backward.
