Rudraksapalli carnage accused hails from a well-to-do family

KHAMMAM: Stealing was said to be a way of life for Thadiparthy Rama Rao, the dossier criminal who led the carnage that left six persons killed in Rudraksapalli village. What he began for fun in his childhood had ultimately become his profession, it was said.

He hails from one of the most well-to-do families of the village, which had over 51 acres of land in its enjoyment just one and a half decades ago.

But much of the land was occupied by a section of farmers who initially cultivated it on lease. Part of the land was sold by the family for a song.

Both Rama Rao and his brother Nageswar Rao who indulged in petty quarrels preferred to stay away from the village to avoid embarrassment.

The Sathupalli police opened the dossier criminal-sheet against Rama Rao in 1990 as he was allegedly involved in a number of thefts in the area. His brother was also convicted in a similar case a few years ago. Both of them attempted to get back their land from those tilling it on lease or occupied paying the family paltry sums. They drew a blank in the mission and hence took to intimidation, it was said.

Rama Rao had allegedly attributed the responsibility of his brother's killing mainly to two rich families in the village.

He planned the attack at a time when the police were away from the subdivisional headquarters.
