Rupee posts mild recovery
MUMBAI:
Initial blips, notwithstanding, the rupee on Thursday rallied to end in the positive terrain with a modest two paise gain at 45.19/20 a dollar, helped by sustained foreign institutional investment inflows amidst assurance that the government would meet India Millennium Deposit (IMD) redemptions.
Resuming distinctly weak at 45.32/33 at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee hit a low of 45.38/39 in early trading after a robust dollar overseas, fuelled hectic dollar demand from oil corporates and importers due to worries over IMD redemptions. PTI
