Dharmapuri: The State Government should provide flood relief amount to all affected persons in the State without disparity, said the PMK State Leader and Pennagaram MLA, G.K. Mani. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, he accused the Government of providing relief only with the ensuing Assembly elections in mind and to gain political mileage. The Government alone must own responsibility for the death of 42 persons in a stampede in Chennai recently. Mr. Mani said there was disparity in providing relief to the flood-affected in other districts in the State. Roads in Dharmapuri district were full of potholes and craters due to the incessant rain for the past two months. The damaged roads in the district must be immediately repaired on a war footing. There were teacher vacancies in majority of the schools in the district which must be filled immediately. He said the Panchapalli canal in Pennagaram should be linked with 16 tanks in Papparapatti to improve irrigation. A demonstration would be held for implementation of the Hogenakkal water scheme in Dharmapuri on December 30.
