Low water supply

NEW DELHI: Due to annual flushing of booster pumping station and tanks, water supply will remain affected at Bapu Park, Kotla Mubarakpur, Sarvodaya Enclave, Madangir and Budh Vihar on Friday.

Similarly, supply will be available at low pressure at Rohini, Mubarakpur village, Pitampura, Chawri Bazar, Nai Sarak and Loni Road on Friday evening.

Alumni meet

NEW DELHI: The Allahabad-based Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology is organising a two-day alumni meet at its campus from this Friday. The Project Director of Ship Building Centre, Vishakhapatnam, Vice-Admiral Ashok Kumar Kalra, an alumnus of the institute, will be the chief guest.

The meet will provide a platform for informal interaction and sharing of work experiences among engineers.

New Director appointed

NEW DELHI: J. Sridharan has been appointed new Director (Finance) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID). He has also done stints with BHEL and Airports Authority of India. He joined POWERGRID in 2000 as Executive Director (Finance) and continued in that position till the new appointment.

Cremated

NEW DELHI: Surrindernath Sehgal, press secretary of Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission, Delhi, passed away in the Capital on Thursday due to kidney failure. He was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat in the evening in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. Mr. Sehgal is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

School annual day

NEW DELHI: Air Chief Marshal S.P. Tyagi inaugurated the Annual Day function of Air Force School here on Thursday.

Addressing the students, the Air Chief urged them to face life's challenges courageously and added that it was more important to be good human beings and great citizens of the country than just acquiring degrees.

The students presented a cultural programme that included an orchestra performance, "Krishna Ras", and dance-drama "Maha Shakti Durga".

Reward for cop

NEW DELHI: Constable Kalu Ram of the 4th battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police has been awarded a commendation letter and cash reward of Rs.20,000 by the Union Home Secretary for his commendable job while on observation post duty at Lepcha post.

On June 26 this year, Constable Kalu Ram noticed an unusual increase in the level of the Parechhu river about 5 km inside Chinese territory. He immediately informed his seniors, who promptly alerted the State Government agencies, Army and Hydro Electric Power officials along the Sutlej, which resulted in the saving of many lives.
