CHENNAI: A special court for CBI cases, hearing the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam case, has directed all the 11 accused to be present here on January 12, 2006. R. Dhakshinamoorthy, II special judge for CBI cases, issued summonses to four persons, including the suspended Deputy Inspector-General of Police, A.P. Mohamed Ali, and issued prisoner on transit (PT) warrant against the others, including the scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi. While Telgi, Nizamuddin and Abdul Wahid are lodged in the Pune central prison, Sarfraz Nawaz, Balaji and Jacob Chaco are in the Bangalore central jail. Peter Kennedy is in the Chennai central prison. Mr. Ali, Shankar, Ramasamy Sadhu and Nazmeen are out on bail. The Central Bureau of Investigation filed the 3,000-page chargesheet against the accused on December 13. It cited 190 persons as prosecution witnesses and marked 340 documents as evidence. The accused have been charged with various offences, including criminal conspiracy, forgery and counterfeiting of Government stamps.
