MANGALORE: The State Government has cleared 24 new bus routes in the city and mofussil areas of Mangalore, and the Regional Transport Authority here has requisitioned 60 more routes from the Government, according to Deputy Commissioner H.V. Parshwanath, who is also Chairman of the Regional Transport Authority. The government notification on 24 new routes has been received by the RTA, which will now be processed for implementation as per the IMV Act 68 3c(a), and applications will be called from transport operators to operate on these routes, he said. Advocates representing various bus operators drew the attention of the authority to the various decisions passed by the Karnataka State Transport Tribunal and the courts on the issue of fresh permits. They said that formation of routes by the State Government and Joint Road Survey is necessary before issuing fresh permits. Regional Transport Officer H.N. Ramesh and Superintendent of Police B. Dayananda were present.
