CHENNAI: The State Government on Thursday received Rs. 3.469 crore towards the Chief Minister's flood relief fund. According to an official release, Ministers B. Valarmathi, R. Vaithilingam and V. Somasundram, handed over cheques for Rs. 26.52 lakh, Rs. 30.02 lakh, Rs. 78.78 lakh respectively on their own behalf and on behalf of employees of their departments, who donated their one day wages. Others who contributed to the relief fund included Venu Srinivasan Rs. 50 lakh on behalf of the TVS Motors, S. Viji Rs. 1.25 crore on behalf of the Sundaram Finance, S.P. Thiagarajan Rs. 10 lakh on behalf of the Madras University and A.V.M. Saravanan Rs. 10 lakh on behalf of the AVM group. So far Rs. 22.636 crore had been received for the relief fund, the release added.
