High Court effects reshuffle of district judges

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has effected a minor reshuffle of District Judges, two weeks after five of them were elevated as Additional Judges of the High Court.

V. Periyakaruppiah, incumbent Director of Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy, has been appointed Principal Sessions Judge of the City Civil Court here.

He succeeds P. Murugesan, who was appointed Additional Judge of the High Court.

G.M. Akbar Ali, Principal District Judge, Chengalpattu, has been appointed Administrator-General and Official Trustee. The post was earlier held by S. Tamilvanan before his elevation as Additional Judge.

T. Duraiswamy, District Judge, Virudhunagar, has been appointed Principal District Judge of Madurai, while P. Ramalingam has been shifted from Madurai and posted in Virudhunagar.

K. Nazir Ahmed, Presiding Officer, Special Court under Essential Commodities Act here, has been appointed District Judge-cum-Chief Judicial Magistrate, the Nilgiris.

He replaces P. Shanmugam, who has been appointed III Additional Sessions Judge in Chennai.
