HYDERABAD: The Ranga Reddy district police on Thursday rescued in Vikarabad a person kidnapped by his partner in Maharasthra over a monetary dispute related to supply of ganja. Ch. Ramesh living in Yavapur of Nawabpet, used to procure ganja from Warangal and supply it to Dattatreya Shankar Gadekar of Sinner near Nasik. Ramesh plotted to kidnap Gadekar after the latter allegedly failed to pay money for a consignment of ganja. On December 12, he lured Gadekar to Yavapur saying they had to attend a marriage and confined him in a farmhouse for a day. After shifting the victim to different places over the next week, he finally took him to a lodge at Vikarabad and threatened to kill him if he raised an alarm. On Monday, he called up Gadekar's family to pay Rs. 4 lakhs ransom for his release. "The victim's son Devadas, along with special teams of Sinner police, arrived in Vikarabad on Thursday morning and approached us for help," RR Superintendent of Police E. Damodar said. Ramesh had been speaking to Devadas over mobile phone and asked the latter to come to a local hotel along with the money. On learning about the call, RR police personnel located the hotel and lay in wait for Ramesh in the guise of customers. As soon as he received money from Devadas, police pounced on him and took him into custody.
