Resurgent India

This refers to the editorial, `India's cricket resurgence' (Dec. 23). India's climb to the second spot in the ICC Test rankings is no doubt an achievement.

Coach Greg Chappell and captain Rahul Dravid deserve praise for building a team that seems to be in winning mode.

However, there are a lot of areas that need to be addressed before, as you have said, India can "claim the honour of being Australia's chief rival ... "

Hats off to the Indian team for rising to the second spot in the ICC Test rankings. This was possible owing to the series victory over the Sri Lankans. Excellent captaincy by Dravid, who has injected a lot of zeal into the team, coupled with contributions from almost all players contributed to the triumph.
